الملخص

Kinayah is a form of metaphorical language. Through it, the speaker can effectively communicate the meaning to bring the listener's understanding of an idea that is wanted. Prophet pbuh uses this approach to convey an idea. This study aims to examine the function of kinayah of Rasulullah pbuh as well as the idea that he built to convey the idea with the help from Hymes’s SPEAKING model. The data is a few selected hadiths found in the books of the Arabic amthal collection. The findings show that kinayah of Rasulullah pbuh functioning to express varieties of meaning with underlying purposes and he used that in many situations namely giving orders to the camel’s guider, preaching to his companions and upper-class social group, as well as providing guidance. These expressions aim to relay a broader meaning and avoid the speaker from uttering displeased expression directly. The implications of this study summarize the importance of those who venture into the field related to the Hadith of the Prophet SAW mastering the elements of implicit language style to better master the meaning of his words.
